Cloud computing in libraries

Cloud computing is a new way to post computing technology to give users the ability to access, work on, share, and store information using the internet. It is a set of networks enabled services that could be accessed in a simple way by a wide range of users anywhere, anytime. The benefits are power savings, on demand storage, ease of maintenance, reliability and pay for only the resources they use.  

There are 4 types of clouds. Public cloud like Amazon and Google, Private cloud like organization or business, Hybrid cloud which has both public and private like Huibin, Community cloud whose cloud is shared by several organizations from a specific group like Stammer & Wilson.

Cloud computing changes the way libraries work, releasing librarians from administrative work and focusing on services for users, leading to cost-savings. A librarian can better handle resources I the cloud, offer increase display of materials, promote cooperative cataloging, share databases among libraries.
